FAQ
My fiance and I are awkward and don't know how to pose. How do you deal with that?
First, no one can be more awkward than me, so you don't have to worry about me being too cool for you. Secondly, I don't want you to pose. Posing is fake, and I want the real you to come through in the pictures. So I'll have you two interact, kiss, walk together, and do it in good lighting.
How do I know if your personality is a match for us?
I get this question. Our initial meeting will be usually over the phone and fairly impersonal since I give my spiel and you ask your questions, but it might be hard to judge from that how well we would mesh on a wedding day. The easiest way to find out is to do an engagement shoot with me. After those 2 hours you should be able to get a feel for who I am and what I can do. If you feel like we aren't clicking you can send me packing and I'll refund the retainer.
Has this happened? No. But I'd much rather you be with me because you want me as your photographer rather than because you are "stuck" with me due to the contract.
What's your style of photography?
I like bold colors and true to life, timeless imagery. I don't like fake looking pictures, or static poses, so you will move, you will laugh, you may even dance for me, and like it!
How long does it take to get the pictures back?
For an engagement session, a day or two. For a wedding, usually less than a month, though I have 2 months in my contract.
Are you okay with LGTBQ+ weddings?
Absolutely. Love is love. I don't discriminate
What if the weather is horrid on my wedding day?
While not ideal, it can provide good pictures. It's not an obstacle, it's an opportunity!
In all seriousness, it's usually not a big deal. I have a variety of techniques to make you look good regardless of weather, and sometimes unique photography opportunities can arise from it too!
How long have you been doing weddings? Are you competent?
I've been doing this for over 9 years now, well over 100 weddings, in all sorts of venues and with all sorts of couples. Essentially, I can make your wedding look good no matter what!
You're like, kinda old. Why should I choose you?
First, I have never missed a wedding for any reason, so although I am no spring chicken I am sturdy!
Secondly, I have a perspective that younger photographers may not have. As the years rush by, the significance of a wedding grows for me. Here's a day where you bond with someone for life, creating an agreement that you will spend all your tomorrows with this one person, building a life, maybe having children, being each other's best friend, rock in stormy seas, and partner in so many different ways.
I want to create pictures that you can look at 30 years from now and still be taken back to that remarkable day, to see loved ones passed on or separated by time and circumstance, and recall the feeling of that long ago moment in time.
As such, I still get anxious before each wedding, checking my equipment, visualizing different poses, scoping out the best spots for pictures and ensuring I'm doing everything I can to deliver the best product I can at every wedding,
I've worked with other photographers who don't have a passion for weddings. It's just a job to them, though I'd imagine they used to have more of a fire for it when they first started. That's not me though. It's too big a day to just phone it in.
So go ahead and hire me! I'm very experienced, obsessed with getting the best pictures possible, and skilled at making you feel relaxed while doing it.
